Goal: Determine costs and reasons for vendor non-compliance with VICS FRM guidelines.

Objective: Assist suppliers in properly implementing VICS guidelines through training and education programs designed to ensure compliance with retailer requirements.

Who should participate?

  • VP Operations
  • VP Distribution
  • VP/Director Vendor Relations
  • Appropriate subject matter experts (SME's) when topics to address are identified.

Strategies: Determine proper role for VICS (e.g. repository of information vs. provider of guidance/recommendations to ease information sharing) and provide guidelines on how to recognize and assess non-compliance

Metrics

·          Ensure current VICS guidelines are clear, consistent and easy to follow

·          Determine if developing a common vendor scorecard is desirable / useful

·          Measure adoption and compliance with the guidelines via member surveys

·          Recommend changes to ease compliance, e.g. standard naming conventions

Current Key Initiatives

1.       KSA to conduct business reviews with 5 key retailers to determine components of a perfect order.

2.       Determine the impact of compliance issues on the cost of quality.

3.       Address the top five issues by adopting common understanding:

           Definition

           Measurement

           Education

           GCI Score Card

4.       Draft a Code of Conduct

5.       Draft a sustainability impact statement

6.       Utilize GXS research to develop impediments to vendor compliance

Key drivers

1.       Increasing technical capabilities within retailers that allow them to drive more granular compliance requirements and metrics leading to

a.       Increasing complexity within each one-to-one trading relationship

b.       Increasing complexity in the supply chain

2.       High costs of complying with requirements leading to inefficient supply chains, brand erosion and both consumer and shopper dissatisfaction

3.       Globalization of supply leading to longer lead times, less visibility and higher safety stock for some products
