Chair: Helen Boyne, Macy’s Inc.
The mission of this committee is to identify opportunities to improve the flow of information and product from the vendor into the direct to consumer fulfillment center and to develop standards that significantly improve the “D2C Ready” [D2CR] status of goods, resulting in an improved flow of goods throughout the supply chain, improved consumer satisfaction, increased sales and profits by reducing additional handling by vendors and retailers. The committee will develop goals, objectives, strategies and metrics. It will also encourage members to report to the GCI the use of developed guidelines and business processes. This committee is open to VICS Members only. Key areas of focus will be: ASN accuracy and other EDI transmissions, substitutions, ticketing, packaging, hangers and color-to-size coding. It will be imperative that this committee leverage the work all ready complete and in process by the FRM committee and E-Commerce Initiative. We will work closely to stay aligned.

Current Key Initiatives
1. Determine today’s business environment as it relates to
a. Direct to Consumer, including Catalog Sales
b. Growth of D2C commerce
c. Crossover: those retailers buying for both channels from a single supplier
2. Understand conflict of FRM guidelines with D2C requirements
3. Analyze the economic advantage of for vendor and retailer of D2CR goods.
Key drivers
Multiple players are now implementing D2C with individual requirements. Standardizing the processes will be more efficient and ultimately less costly. Apparel is the biggest problem; hardgoods are already packaged in such a way as to easily ship directly to the consumer. Manufacturers have implemented FRM Guidelines and now D2C is presenting new challenges.
